A year or so ago my good friend (and one of my favorite mashup producers) Fissunix put together a great compilation of Hard Rockin' Mashups which he called "Heavy Metal Mashups Vol. 1 - Sabbath Bootie Sabbath Mix". I totally meant to share it here in the Pit, and we even had a great discussion about future volumes. Here we are a year later, and volume 2 is now out and I still haven't posted Vol 1 - until now.

First I would like to share his latest Kiss mashterpiece. And should the metal get to be a bit much for you (after two hours it might for some of the young folk out there who didn't grow up on the sh!t like I did) I have another set of cowboy boots - minus the spurs!

Looks Like Good Ikobahton Goes Down Cruelly

The next song on my latest top ten list (for last year, heh)is DJ Schmolli's "Cruelly Good Summer Feeling". I really enjoyed this little demonstration of his mega-multi-mashup mastery. In his own words it's "a 13 source mashup which is based on Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling” (which again is based on Avicii’s “Levels”)". I'm not sure if this is actually my favorite Schmolli mash of last year, but I figure it's way too late now to start messing with the list (which I actually made many months ago). I've also included a few other great tunes from the Austrian Mashup Master. Including a wicked video set to the last Rambo movie. Not for the squeemish - don't watch it if you don't like gory violence! Not to mention the very racy "Ikobahton". Overall consider this post to be not for childre ;-)

Cupid Stunts

Tuesday was the anniversary of Al Capone's most notorious stunt ever. So let's all celebrate with a Valentine's Day Mashacre. I guess I will follow tradition and stick to some fairly typical Cupid stunts, I mean "romantic" mashups.

Shut Up, Mama Said No Further Shit!

Anybody who knows me, or follows this blog, knows that I am a huge fan of DJ Schmolli. Which would be a big part of why it is his turn again today :-) I have a pair of new tunes from the talented German DJ, plus a trio of classics, one of which has been given a brand new video by ThriftshopXL. I love the new Metal Mashup, and what he had to say about it, I can totally relate. Here's a quote from his blog:
"So after all this really bad pop music I was listening to lately I needed to do a metal mash again. This time Cataract from Switzerland collide with an LL Cool J classic from the 90s"
I may have posted the Brooklyn mashup before, but with nearly 20 Schmolli posts here in the Pit, I couldn't be bothered to find out for sure. No matter, it's worth a re-post anyways. Mother's Life Power

Wow. It sure is hard to find time to blog this summer. I am finding tonnes of great tunes, but mostly as mp3's. The videos seem to be flowing a bit slower. Or at least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it ;-) There have been a few great top 10 lists in the last little while, and hopefully I will actually get around to updating my own real soon (it definitely needs it!)

In the meantime, here are a few of the latest mashups to come from the ingenious mind of DJ Schmolli. First up is a very original (and totally awesome) mashup of Billy Idols "Rebel Yell" - mashed with Danzig and Rihanna. I love it. The Feel Good Hit of the Summer! Following this up (or at least trying to) is a real interesting blast from the past - Huey Lewis mashed with Bon Jovi. The Top 10

It's time for me to once again update my Top 10 list (here's the old list). The list of my ten favourite mashups. This is entirely my own opinion, with some influence from the readers here (but only a little). There only rule I have about making it onto the Top 10 is that the song has to have a video. There are a few songs I really love but don't make it onto the list for this reason. Without further ado, let's get rocking!

First up is a mash that's been in the Pit for awhile now. I'm finally convinced (by you guys) that it deserves to be here on the Top 10.

10. Mashed Bananas (Billy Loves My Hollaback Bridge Humps) - TheGodFather2010



This is another fan favourite, which until yesterday was the most popular mashup in the Pit. It is the video more than anything that makes this one so great.

9. Enjoy Jumping Around - DJ Schmolli



I decided to replace Genesis with Madonna (but still keep Gorillaz). These two mashups have replaced each other a few times now in the Top 10 as I keep flip-flopping over which I like better.

8. Feel Hung Up Inc. - emadonn



It was a tough call, but I replaced Girls On Film Freak Out. This is imho the best of the many great Duran Duran mashes, and one of the best Deadmau5 mashes. Of which there are also many great ones.

7. Ghosts On Film - 10000 Spoons and Celebrity Murder Party



Still on the list is this classic Earworm Mashup. Another reason why he is the best.

6. If I Were A Free Fallin' Boy - DJ Earworm



I think that I like this In Da Club mashup slightly better than the One with Men At Work.

5. Rasputin's Club - Mr Gees



I finally decided to drop A Whole Lotta Sabbath. It was a tough call, but it had to be done. I really do love it's replacement. It's been stuck in my head since I first heard it. Easily the best use of Duck Sauce out there ;-)

4. Flex Gym Duck - Marc Johnce



Another tough call, but I replaced Hive's Wedding. I like this White Wedding mash slightly better. The acrobats are what give it the edge ;-)

3. Twisted Insomniac Wedding - LeeDM101


No change at number two. This is the Mashup that inspired me to start this blog and I still love it. Two of my favourite bands ever. Unfortunately though I did drop Maiden Goes to Bollywood, another one of the many great Iron Maiden Mashups.

2. Exodus Revealed - DJ Lobsterdust



Still at number one is what in my own humble opinion the greatest mashup ever made. DJ Earworm's masterpiece. I love how he took a huge number of songs and made a completely new (and totally awesome!) mashup.

I know a few people who agree fully with the title of this mash. I am no longer one of those folks. I get a kick out of heavy tunes mashed to pop songs. They are even funnier when they only include the lyrics (and maybe a solo or two) layed over the pop track. This is one of those mashes.
